Sophie obtained a Bachelor degree in biology from the University of Strasbourg and the Saarland University, a Master degree in biology from the University Pierre et Marie Curie, and a PhD in developmental biology in 2019. She performed her PhD work in the lab of Dr. Evelyn Houliston and characterised cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the regeneration of the feeding organ of the jellyfish Clytia hemisphaerica. Then she joined the lab of Dr. Jordi Solana as a postdoctoral researcher and investigated stem cells differentiation in the flatworm Schmidtea mediterranea using single cell transcriptomics. Particularly, she focussed on the role of cell cycle components and epigenetic regulators on the differentiation of neoblasts and performed clonal analysis in the adult animals.
Sophie joined the lab in September 2025 as a computational biologist, and is interested in investigating clonal lineages in the human brain using somatic mutations.
